Live Heats takes first step into skateboarding events through partnership with Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative
Live Heats is thrilled to announce a national partnership with Australian Skateboarding Community Initiative (ASCI). Under the partnership, ASCI will use LiveHeats to power all of its grassroots, state, and elite level skateboarding events.
ASCI runs a range of skateboarding events across metro and regional Australia. Live Heats’ technology will be used to power online athlete entry and payment, automated heat draws for events, live scoring on any device, athlete dashboards for competitors, and automated leaderboards for ASCI’s full event calendar.
Born in surfing, Live Heats is the first mobile-first competition management and live scoring app for boardsports events. The partnership with ASCI marks the first move into the world of skate. “We’re pumped to be expanding into skateboarding”, says LiveHeats Co-Founder Chris Friend, “skate events follow a similar form to surfing, so the technology we’ve been building for the last 18-months is immediately transferrable; from entries through to live scoring and automated rankings, we’re excited to help ASCI take skate events to the next level, and through ASCI’s input, continue to improve Live Heats for skateboarding”.
The technology will be trialled at next weekend’s South Australian Skateboarding Championships in Adelaide. Athlete registration will shift to LiveHeats’ two-click mobile payment portal; judges will switch from paper score sheets to tablets, and spectators and fans will be able to see live scores action the ASCI website (www.australianskateboarding.
Skateboarding is in a period of growth and transformation following the recent announcement of inclusion in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. “ASCI’s focus is on creating more pathways for grassroots skateboarding athletes to reach the global stage”, Donny Fraser, President of ASCI says, “with LiveHeats, we’re not only able to take our events to the next level, but also capture and build on the athlete data and performance stats for Australia’s skateboarding community”.
